Site Announcement

Use the site-wide announcement bar to broadcast important messages to every user across the instance.

Publish an announcement

  1. Open Site Administration > Site Announcement.
  2. Check Display announcement to make the bar appear after saving. Leave it unchecked to keep the text as a draft.
  3. Enter a Title (max 255 characters). Keep it short so it fits on the collapsed bar.
  4. (Optional) Pick a Title color using the hex input or a preset swatch. Leave it blank to use the default color.
  5. Write the Content. Markdown is supported, so you can add links, lists, and formatting.
  6. (Optional) Set Visible from and Visible until to schedule visibility. Leave either empty to start immediately or to keep it open-ended. The hint below the fields shows the time zone derived from DEFAULT_UI_LOCATION.
  7. Click Save.

How it is shown to users

  • Only one announcement is stored at a time. When enabled, it renders above every page while the current time is inside the scheduled window.
  • The title always stays visible; users can expand or collapse the content.
  • The body is rendered as Markdown, so inline code, links, and lists display as expected.

Hide an announcement

  • Uncheck Display announcement and save to hide the bar without deleting what you wrote, making it easy to republish later.
